Recycling and Sustainability in the World of Söll

Material Recycling

The Importance of Material Recycling

At Söll, we lead the way in sustainable ski clothing by prioritizing the use of recycled materials in our production processes. This approach not only minimizes waste but also reduces the carbon footprint associated with new textile production. For instance, we utilize our Eco Sölltech fabric, which incorporates a significant percentage of recycled polyester, and use Primaloft insulation in its ECO versions to ensure our ski jackets and pants maintain high performance while being environmentally responsible.

As a brand, we commit to achieving 100% sustainability in our clothing line, allowing consumers to enjoy outdoor activities while contributing to environmental conservation. By adopting recycled materials, we not only enhance product quality but also set a precedent for ethical practices in the sports fashion industry. This initiative underscores the growing consumer awareness of sustainability, fostering a shift towards more responsible fashion consumption.

Sustainability, our soul

Sustainability is a fundamental principle at Söll, a brand renowned for its commitment to the environment and social responsibility. Since its inception, Söll has worked diligently to minimise our environmental impact through responsible production practices and the selection of sustainable materials in our ski apparel. For instance, we utilise Eco Sölltech fabric, largely composed of recycled polyester, and employ Primaloft thermal insulation for our ski jackets and trousers, all while applying treatments free from harmful chemicals. Our fleece linings and thermal shirts are made from fabrics supplied by an Italian provider and are manufactured in Spain, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.

A cornerstone of Söll's philosophy is collaboration with initiatives that promote reforestation and the offsetting of CO2 emissions. Through our partnership with Tree-Nation, Söll is committed to planting a tree for every online purchase, thereby contributing to the creation of our own forest and raising awareness about deforestation and climate change with the help of our customers. This approach not only aids in combating global warming but also supports local communities involved in reforestation projects.

We are also members of the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA). Established in 2006, the EOCA is a charity aimed at fostering collaboration among companies in the outdoor industry to support local conservation initiatives worldwide. With over 150 members, the EOCA has funded 201 projects in 65 countries, investing more than €5.6 million in efforts that protect biodiversity, combat climate change, and benefit local communities. Their projects range from habitat restoration to promoting sustainable ecotourism, highlighting the collective impact on nature and the environment.

By adopting ethical and sustainable production practices, Söll not only enhances the quality of our products but also inspires others in the industry to follow our lead. For Söll, sustainability is not merely a trend; it represents a long-term commitment to protecting our planet and its inhabitants.

It is also important to emphasise that we have eliminated plastic bags from our products, contributing our small part to this cause. The non-use of plastic bags in the fashion and sports industry is a crucial step towards sustainability. Plastic bags contribute to pollution and the increase of waste, adversely affecting both the environment and human health. We aim to reduce our environmental impact by conserving natural resources and decreasing pollution from microplastics. This transition fosters greater awareness of sustainability and promotes more responsible practices in fashion consumption.
