Waterproof
In the realm of winter sports, waterproof membranes and fabrics are essential for keeping people dry and comfortable. The fabric we use for our men’s, women’s, and children’s garments consists of two layers, with a waterproof membrane of 20,000 mm.
Waterproof membranes, often made of synthetic materials like polyurethane or PTFE (Teflon), block external water while allowing sweat vapor to escape, making them breathable. This balance is key for thermal comfort.
Waterproofness is measured by the ISO 811:1981 standard, where the Schmerber rating indicates the water column height in millimeters when water passes through the fabric sample. Waterproof gear must have at least 1,500 Schmerber. Our SÖLLTECH membrane boasts 20,000 mm of water resistance, equivalent to 20 meters of water column.
In this chart, we explain the different membrane values to help you assess the one we offer in our ski garments.
IMPERMEABILITY MM | PROTECTION |
